Our Practice principal (David Strafford BSc MRICS) has in excess of twenty years experience in the public and private sectors dealing with all manner of schemes from major infrastructure developments to minor works.

David’s starting point regardless of client is a thorough review of the processes and paperwork. The procedures to be complied with and the confirmation of Orders granting rights to acquiring authorities to compulsorily expropriate private land is not an issue to be taken lightly, or indeed for granted.

David takes pride in the fact that the vast majority of his cases are settled through negotiation and strives to obtain the best value for his clients. Adept at analysing sometimes complex issues, he is a keen negotiator and knows the value to acquiring authorities and claimants alike of settling claims on time and at cost.

At times difficulties do arise and you can rest assured that we have the experience to represent you in these situations too. Increasingly parties are being encouraged to use alternative dispute resolution (ADR) as a means of resolving disputes without recourse to often costly and time consuming court action. David has experience of ADR and sees it as useful tool in the right circumstances for resolving what could otherwise be a protracted and costly judicial process.

David also has Expert Witness experience at Lands Tribunal for those hopefully rare situations when needed.
